Fermented Alfalfa/Lucerne Extract (nitrogen, triacontanol)
Fermented Alfalfa (lucerne) Extract is a liquid made by fermenting lucerne meal. Growers use it as a soil drench, foliar spray or compost tea addition at any stage from seedling to flowering.

What it is
This is our Alfalfa/Lucerne Meal fermented into a liquid. Fermentation breaks the plant material down so the nitrogen, minerals and plant compounds are in solution and go on through a watering can or sprayer.
Lucerne is the plant in which the growth regulator triacontanol was first identified, and it is naturally high in saponins. We do not have a measured figure for either in the extract.
What it does
- Supplies a small, fast dose of nitrogen and minerals in a form roots and leaves can take up quickly.
- Adds the microbes and metabolites from the ferment to a drench or a compost tea.
- Suits any growth stage from seedling to flowering.
How to use
- Soil drench: dilute 25 to 50 ml of extract per litre of dechlorinated water and apply once a week.
- Foliar spray: dilute 10 to 25 ml of extract per litre of dechlorinated water and apply once a week.
- Compost tea: add to the brew in place of, or alongside, other plant extracts.
Watch out
- Foliar sprays go on with the lights off or in the evening, on both sides of the leaf. Test a few leaves first at the lower rate.

Handling and storage
- Wear gloves and eye protection, and wash hands after use.
- Once opened, keep sealed in a cool dry place.
- This product will remain active for 6 months after production if stored correctly.
- This product is made from organic materials which contain living microorganisms and also contains mineral additives.
- If ingested, or if the product comes into contact with eyes or causes skin irritation, rinse the area well and call the National Poisons Centre on 0800 POISON (0800 764 766).
