At a glance
- Type: media, seed raising and microgreen mix
- Use for: seed trays, punnets, microgreens, pricking out
- Rate: fill trays, sow, keep evenly moist
What it is
A fine, light mix of coco coir and worm castings carrying a measured set of organic amendments, so the seedling has minerals and biology around it from the first root. Made in Seacliff, Otago.
- Base: coco coir, worm castings
- Amendments: Acadian kelp meal, karanja meal, neem meal, fish bone meal, flaxseed meal, fish meal, langbeinite, 2 row malted barley, colloidal soft rock phosphate, Ultra Paramagnetic Andesite, gypsum, oyster shell flour, amino acids, lucerne (alfalfa)
What it does
- Coir and worm castings hold water and air around a germinating seed and drain freely.
- The amendments give a light nutrient charge, so seedlings should not need feeding before they are potted on.
- The worm castings bring the mix its biology.
How to use
- Fill trays or punnets, firm lightly, sow and cover to the depth on the seed packet.
- Keep the mix evenly moist and out of direct sun until the seedlings are up.
- Pot on into Superior Potting Mix or Living Soil v2 once the seedlings have their first true leaves.
- Microgreens: sow densely on a shallow layer and harvest at the first true leaf.
