OrganiBOR is a slow release boron fertiliser, 10 percent boron by weight, in which the boron is bound to calcium and magnesium rather than sodium. It suits growers who want a soil applied boron source that releases over the season, and it is certified for use in organic gardening.

What it is

OrganiBOR is a natural calcium magnesium borate mineral. Unlike borax, which is a soluble sodium salt, its boron is bound to calcium and magnesium and it is not water soluble, so it is applied to the soil rather than sprayed.

What it does

• Boron is needed for cell wall formation, pollen viability and seed and fruit set.
• Because it is not water soluble it releases boron slowly. The supplier states this makes the boron more stable, less likely to leach and less likely to burn plants than a soluble salt, and that it releases at a rate close to plant uptake.
• It is low in sodium, so it does not add the sodium load that borax does.

How to use

• Apply to the soil from a soil test and work in or water in. Ask us for a rate for your crop if your prescription does not give one.
• It does not dissolve, so it is not suitable for foliar sprays or irrigation lines; use borax or Biomin Boron for those.

Watch out

Boron is used in small amounts and has a narrow margin between deficiency and toxicity. Over-application harms plants and soil, and because OrganiBOR releases slowly a mistake stays in the soil for a long time. Apply from a soil test and do not combine with other boron products without adding up the totals.

This product is used in minute amounts and should only be applied by advanced users or for approved organics with a soil prescription. Handling and storage

• Wear a mask to avoid inhaling particles and open in a well ventilated area.
• Wear gloves and eye protection, and wash hands after use.
• Once opened, keep sealed and dry.
