Biomin Manganese
Biomin Manganese is an amino acid chelated manganese powder (18.0% manganese) for correcting manganese deficiency through the soil or as a foliar spray. It suits growers with a soil or leaf test showing manganese is short, including crops on alkaline soils.

What it is
Biomin Manganese is sourced from Roots, Shoots and Fruits and is part of the Biomin range of amino acid chelated minerals. The nitrogen on the label comes from the amino acid chelate. It dissolves in water for irrigation or spraying.
What it does
- Manganese is used in photosynthesis, where it splits water, and in several enzyme systems.
- Deficiency shows as speckled or mottled young leaves.
- Manganese becomes less available to roots as soil pH rises, so deficiency is common on alkaline and heavily limed soils. A chelated foliar spray gets around the soil in those cases.
- Suitable during deficiency and at times of high demand, for example in citrus.

How to use
- Soil: apply before or at planting through irrigation water at 1.5 to 3 kilograms per hectare, depending on crop, soil conditions and application method.
- Foliar (all field crops: grain crops, pasture, flowers): 1.0 to 1.5 kilograms per hectare when crops are 15 to 30 cm high, or when deficiency symptoms appear. Repeat as needed.
Watch out
Manganese is needed in small amounts and over-application harms plants and soil. On acid soils manganese is already very available and extra can tip into toxicity, so check pH before adding any. Excess manganese also interferes with iron uptake.
This product is used in minute amounts and should only be applied by advanced users or for approved organics with a soil prescription. Handling and storage
- Wear a mask to avoid inhaling particles and open in a well ventilated area.
- Wear gloves and eye protection, and wash hands after use.
- Once opened, keep sealed and dry.
- If ingested, or if the product comes into contact with eyes or skin irritation is present, rinse the area well and call the National Poisons Centre on 0800 POISON (0800 764 766).
