Biomin Boron

Biomin Boron is a glycine chelated boron powder (13.0% boron) for correcting boron deficiency through the soil or as a foliar spray. It suits growers who have a soil or leaf test showing boron is short, especially before flowering.

At a glance

  • Type: chelated trace element (soluble powder)
  • Analysis: boron 13.0 percent w/w
  • Use for: correcting boron deficiency before flowering and fruit set
  • Rate: soil 1.5 to 3 kg per hectare; foliar 1.0 to 1.5 kg per hectare

What it is

Biomin Boron is part of the Biomin range of amino acid chelated minerals supplied through Roots, Shoots and Fruits. The boron is chelated with glycine and dissolves in water for irrigation or spraying.

What it does

  • Boron is needed for cell wall formation, pollen viability and seed and fruit set.
  • Deficiency shows as dead growing points, hollow or corky stems and poor fruit set.
  • Growers apply boron before flowering to support the flowering process and fruit set. The supplier also suggests a later application at the onset of ripening.

Analysis

  • Boron (B) 13.0 percent w/w (Roots Shoots and Fruits product sheet)

How to use

  • Soil: apply before or at planting through irrigation water at 1.5 to 3 kilograms per hectare, depending on crop, soil conditions and application method.
  • Foliar (all field crops: grain crops, pasture, flowers): 1.0 to 1.5 kilograms per hectare when crops are 15 to 30 cm high or when deficiency symptoms appear.
  • Repeat application 2 to 4 weeks later or as needed.
  • Boron has a narrow margin between enough and too much: apply from a soil or leaf test and do not exceed the rate.
