Calsil Boost (wollastonite)
Calsil Boost is ground wollastonite, a natural calcium silicate mineral that supplies silicon and calcium to soil and potting mixes. Growers use it to build silicon into plants early for stronger stems and cell walls, with a mild liming effect as a passenger.

What it is
Wollastonite is calcium silicate (CaSiO3): a pure mineral is 48% CaO and 52% SiO2, which is 34% calcium and 24% silicon as elements; natural grades run lower, so ask us for the current batch sheet. Rich in calcium and silicon for stronger plant structures.
What it does
- Silicon hardens cell walls and stems and helps plants resist mildew and stress. It is taken up as the mineral dissolves, so build it in early rather than at the end.
- Calcium builds cell walls and root tips. It is immobile in the plant, so a shortage shows first as twisted new growth.
- Calcium silicate also neutralises soil acid, at roughly 60 to 90% of the strength of calcium carbonate by weight, so count it as part of your liming.
- Wollastonite releases silicon far faster than basalt or andesite rock dust, which makes it the more direct silicon tool.
How to use
- Soil amendment, gardens and field: 100 g (half a cup) per square metre. Mix into the soil before planting, or top dress as needed.
- Potting mixes: 15 g (one tablespoon) per 4 L of soil or media, mixed through.
- Composting: 50 g (a quarter of a cup) per 28 L of compost material. Mix well for even distribution.
- It raises pH. If pH is already at the top of your range (we run living soil at 6.2 to 7.2), count the lime effect before adding it.
- Every dose adds calcium. Read the calcium line on your soil test, not just pH.

Handling and storage
- Wear a mask to avoid inhaling particles and open the bag in a well ventilated area.
- Wear gloves and eye protection, and wash hands after use.
- Once opened, keep sealed and dry.

We aim to dispatch within 2 to 4 business days. Bags go by tracked Courier Post (overnight target for main centres, 2 to 3 days rural). Cubes and tonnes go by Mainfreight or Move Logistics: 2 to 3 working days in the South Island, 3 to 7 days to the North Island. A rural delivery fee may apply.
Faulty, damaged or wrong items are repaired, replaced or refunded under the Consumer Guarantees Act, with return costs on us. Change of mind returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for unopened products in original packaging (living products, bulk orders, testing, consulting and custom blends excluded).
