Seacliff Organics Coco/Chunk 40 L

Coco/Chunk is a low EC coco coir media: a 50/50 blend of coco coir and coco chips (chunks) that gives more air space than straight coir. Use it on its own for hand watered, drip or hydroponic growing, or to open up a potting mix.

What it is

Coconut coir and coconut chip, blended 50/50. Coir is the fine fibre and pith of the coconut husk; chips are the husk cut into chunks. The blend is low EC.

What it does

• The coir holds water; the chips keep large air spaces between the fibres so the media drains and roots get oxygen.
• Low EC means the media adds very little salt of its own to your feed.

How to use

• Straight coco: pot up and feed from the first watering, because coir carries very little nutrition on its own.
• In a mix: blend with potting mix, compost or castings to add air space.
• Coir on its own holds little nutrition. Feed a complete nutrient from the start or amend it before use. For a coco mix that is already amended, see Super Coco.

Handling and storage

• Wear a mask to avoid inhaling particles and open the bag in a well ventilated area.
• Wear gloves and eye protection, and wash hands after use.
• Once opened, keep the bag sealed and dry.
